Right Hand Drive Jeeps
RHD jeeps are also known as right hand drive jeeps. These jeeps are not easy to find but form the necessity for many people. The rural postal delivery drivers need a RHD jeep to carry out their mail deliveries. Contracts of mail deliveries are given by the United States Post Office only to those people who own a right hand drive jeep.
Though there are little disadvantages of longer driving time and less mileage, the other vehicles are not well suited for this job. The mailboxes on the right hand side of a street need a car that has right hand drive. It becomes very easy for drivers to access mail by using a right hand drive jeep. Hence such jeeps are a favorite among rural mail delivery drivers. A RHD jeep has accelerator, brake and steering wheel on the right side of the car. A four wheeler is a necessity in conditions of extreme weather and rough roads.
A jeep gives a large cargo area to fit the large number of mails. US Postal Service used right hand drive jeeps for postal deliveries in the rural areas. The use of jeeps began in the year 1950 and continues to do so. The first jeep that was used for postal services was the Dispatcher (DJ3A) and later the new model DJ5A was used in its place. These RHD jeeps could be purchased directly from Postal Services if one needed it for personal use. Ultimately, this facility was stopped for safety concerns.
