Stiff drawing style...how can I loosen it up while keeping my aesthetic?
I'm an art student studying to be a comic book writer/illustrator. I've been told I have strong draftsmanship but that my figures and illustrations are often stiff because I spend too much time on them/their details/etc.
I've always been able to sort of see this problem but I cannot picture the solution in my head. I'm not sure what my art would look like were it looser.
I also don't know how to loosen up my drawings but still keep the elements and details that people often seem to enjoy in them. Any suggestions?

I notice all the shots in that page are at the same angle, straight on, mid-chest. Move your POV around, make some low and some high. Play with your 'camera'. Check out Hitchcocks films for dramatic camera work, you can adapt it to your own style. The CSI TV series also have very interesting camera work that can inspire you for panels/short.
Get some books on cartooning and animation, and work on adding some cartoon elements of expression and exaggeration, even in still scenes there needs to be some action of the characters. Things can be cartoonish in way of expression and still incredibly detailed (look at some of the comics and animation that come out of Japan, many of them merge exaggeration and mind-numbing detail beautifully)
Be mindful of your flow. Your audience looks where your characters are pointing. Get rid of any detail you don't need, particularly in the background. Look at an entire page at once, without the text. The page itself should look like a piece of art (as a whole).
Give as much of the story as you can through visuals, and keep text to a minimum. In most cases, one should be able to tell what is going on without having to read the words.
Pick up the Chris Hart books on animation and cartooning, they are really good. Also get Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud.
