Have Black Americans fought in every war in American history?
Crispus Attucks has been frequently named as the first martyr of the American Revolution. Was he a black man? Should we have respect for all who have shed blood for this country?
Does anyone have in any information on the conrtributions black americans have made in America. This is never covered in History books, Why?
Black soldiers and sailors definitely fought in the American Revolution, but Crispus Attucks was not one of them. He was one of the civilians killed by British soldiers in the Boston Massacre of 1770, several years before the start of Revolution.
There is actually quite a bit of historical information available on the subject of military service by black Americans, who have indeed served in every conflict in U.S. history. A few topics you can look up:
Buffalo Soldiers
Tuskegee Airmen
54th Massachusetts Regiment
Henry O. Flipper
Benjamin O. Davis
Camp Logan mutiny
segregation in the U.S. military
