What Driver Should I Purchase?
I'm looking for a new driver. I'm fourteen 5'5 and a decent golfer. The only thing my set is missing is a quality driver. My budget is about $225 canadian. So far I have found:
Taylor made: '07 Burner, Tour burner, r7 draw.
Callaway: Hyper X, Hyper X tour,FT-5 neutral or Big Bertha
Cleveland: Hibore XLs, Draw, tour and other variants
Ping: Rapture Driver
Which do you think i should get? I'm open to other suggestions and I usually shop at Golf town, http://www.golftown.com/?lang=en
It really depends on what trajectory you want and your typical ball striking and ball flight patterns.
Taylormade is the number one driver on tour for a reason. I love my Superquad, but mine is modified with a specialty shaft and other things.
Callaway is probably the easiest to hit well, but workability generally sucks on those.
Cleveland's Hibore HL is a monster. The club head is so big I dunno if I could keep it on plane the whole time, plus it is really meant for players who want to hit the ball way up into the air.
Ping drivers are always nice, if I did not have a taylormade, I would have a ping. The rapture is a good driver as well. I would say it is probably the best on your list above.
keep in mind, the shaft you choose will matter more than the clubhead itself. A good shaft can go a long way, and the standard shafts that they put in these drivers are good enough for some, but not for the better players.
My recommendation- Ping Rapture new or Taylormade R7 series TP used.
