what's the best way to exchange currency?
when traveling to australia from canada, is it better to convert the cnd dollar to us dollar and then convert it to australian dollar? I heard something about that but not sure if it's true. since canadian dollar is higher then both currencies at the moment, i would think a US dollar conversion would be pointless. also how can i get the most out of the exchange with as little fees as possible..i will be staying atleast 2 years so using a credit card or bank card are no good and would like to transfer about 20000 to australia with me. is it better to take the cash and exchange it there?
Australia has a good banking system and they do accept credit cards everywhere....Visa or Mastercard etc.
No need to travel with a pile of cash in your bag...in fact, its better not to travel with large sums. If you plan to work you will need to get a work permit before you arrive.
Go and visit your local bank and ask them which bank they deal with in Australia. They will be able to transfer any funds for you and should be able to get an account opened for you so the funds will be ready for you to use once you arrive.
