Advantages of hybrid irons over "regular" irons? Do they REALLY help? Or just a way for a golf pro to scam you?
I am age 60 and been playing for 10 years and really losing some distance. I have a set of Cleveland TA5s that I like but keep losing distance but most importantly keep "mishitting" the ball and you know what happens there when you fail to hit it "flush".
Hybrids are expensive so my question to the Board members is that are hybrids REALLY and truly helpful playing golf irons? Will they help me "hit farther and straighter"? I am not so much worried about the price as whether there will be a true improvement in my scores.
Lastly, what iron numbers are usually bought, i.e. like a 4 iron thru PW to start out? or a 5-PW? I like the Cleveland product and there is a sale on 5 - PW at Rockbottom for $300 + shipping.

Yeah hybrid clubs are really good but you should go and try some out before you buy them because some people don't like them. Another option would be to get game improver irons, with a big cavity back so that mishits will go further and straighter.
its up to you, a good option would be to get a 3 and 4 hybrid and then get 5-pw irons. But if you try the hybrids and don't like them you would be better going and getting game improver irons and if you have the money then custom fitting would be a good idea.
so try before you buy because its personal preference if you will like hybrids but its very likely that you will and that they will improve your game but even still which hybrids to buy is the next question.
wilson fybrid, taylormade burner,cobra baffler are all good hybrids but go to a store and try some out and see which ones you like best.
