Cleveland Wedges vs. Titleist wedges?
I need some new wedges. I going for a new sand wedge and a new lob wedge. Which wedges are best overall, vokeys or cleveland wedges such as the CG 12s or the CG 14s. I guess I could get a wedge from each company if one is better with one type of wedge. Im sure they both spin well and feel good, but how are the different or distinct in certain areas?
Don't be too hasty to jump into something that has a lot of spin. You can get the Vokeys without the spinmill feature. From what I can tell by your question, that may be the better option for you. I myself am a +2 handicap, so I know that the more spin you have, the less control you have over the shot. I play the Vokey SMs myself, but I wouldn't suggest it to almost anyone I know because of how difficult they are to handle. If you want a wedge that has the most consistent quality in the areas of performance, feel, and control, you should look into the Clevelands or the regular Vokeys. As for the lofts, you may not want to rush into a 60 degree. Many people I know are now using a 54 and a 58, so they can have that added height without losing all playability of the short shots. I could try and tell you more, but to make the actual decision, you would have to go to a retailer and try the wedges out yourself. What it comes down to is which one feels the best to you.
