determining function intervals from a graph of a derivative?
I am given a graph that shows the derivative of a function. the graph is a parabola with its minimum at (-2,-1) facing upwards. How do I determine the interval(s) on which the original function f(x) is increasing.
the x intercepts are at -3 and -1, the y intercept is at 3
The graph cuts the x-axis at two points.
between these points the function is decreasing as the derivative is negative
elsewhere function is increasing.
on the two points the function has maxima or minima
