Golf help...pros only?
ok im a male golfer, 13 my golf shaft is a soft regular,my average drive (before my club broke) is 200, im 5'8"...what is a good shaft length? my drivers shaft broke and im getting it reshafted tommorow soo what do you reccomend? i dont know the old length (i lost the shaft). plz help
Length, or shaft model and flex?
Shaft model you will need to decide yourself. Ideally as someone above said on a launch monitor.
Flex, sounds like you are in the right region, soft or regular is probably fine for you. Again this can be refined if you get fit on a monitor.
Length, these days most off the shelf drivers come in at 45-46". Personally I would cut this down a bit. The average length on tour is just over 44" and I play a 44.5" shaft, despite being 6'1. Sure an extra couple of inches will increase the clubhead speed, but if you miss the sweetspot that speed is just sending the ball in the wrong direction, if it even gets transferred to the ball.
Again though this really needs to be tried out. It is likely you will find a length where distance and accuracy is optimal. Depending on your swing you may also find there is a point where as the shaft gets shorter, clubhead speed decreases, but ball speed increases, because you are hitting the sweetspot.
