Why did e-commerce sites crash during the Dot com crash?
If these e-commerce sites generate revenue why did many crash during the dot com crash? How come expedia and pets.com crashed?
The dot com crash was about stocks. Everyone was pouring money in to these companies in the form of stock investments. The internet was newer and people went crazy thinking that this was the next big thing. But then some people started to realize that the internet, in terms of investing, was more hype than reality, and they started pulling their money out. Even though your business sells things and makes money, when you lose that much money that quickly your company's expenses quickly outweigh your profits and you run in to bankruptcy.
