9.0 degree Driver vs. 10.0 and above?
I used to have a 10.5 degree Driver and would spray my drives in all directions (mostly slices though), I bought a Cobra 9.0 degree driver and can hit it straight, it doesn't go as high in air and sometimes it leads to shorter drives (I have to smash it to get beyond 200 yards). My old driver (when and if I hit it straight) would get between 230-240 yards. So, is it because 1.5 degree of loft = 30 to 40 yards less? I'm a way better golfer now than when I had the 10.5, but it just doesn't seem right.
Just to clarify things a bit.....While Driver loft will affect launch angle it is not the only criteria that you have to take into consideration. the angle that the club head actually strikes the ball is much more of a factor than just club face angle add in Swing speed and you have a more complete set of tools to work with. What I am saying is that if your swing is steep into the ball it will have much more of a factor in your drive distance as well as trajectory issues. Look at your swing first....then look at equipment matchups to fit your swing.
