Is one gram of gold per metric ton of copper tailings (sand) feasible for a mining project? Any advice pls?
I have over five million metric tons of copper tailings with 1 gram of gold per metric ton. Any advice if i can profit from this pls?
Therefore you have give or take about 5 million grams of gold that you could potentially extract = 5000 kilograms of gold.
Price of Gold/kg = $29000
Simple arithmetic says that you could get 5000x29000= $145,000,000. Now $145M is big money my friend.
However, this project is feasible only if the cost for extraction does not exceed $19/gram of gold you get. So you should plan for a mining process that does not exceed $19x5M = $95M.
Then you will be left with about $50M. We are here talking about a 35% profit margin, which by all standards, is pretty good.
