How to trim a fruit tree less than 3 feet tall?
I had planted a hybrid tangerine orange tree two years ago. It produced one fruit which I paid no attention to. My question is that now that it is about 3 feet tall, should I clip some of the branches in order for it to be a straight tree? It looks more like a bush right now and I don't want to do the wrong thing to it. I don't want it to become a bush and want it to be a fruit bearing tree in time. Any advice would be helpful.
You should cut off any crossover shoots, the shoots that grow from one branch and pass by another branch. It's this type of growth that makes it look more like a bush and will make it difficult to bear much fruit.
