how fast is the speed of light if it has to bend around something?
I've heard that light is bent as it nears black holes. Does it travel at the same speed near a black hole or is it slower?
Light bends when it enters glass because it changes speed so its possible it slows down a bit near a black hole.
It probably is just the gravity changing its direction
It takes A VERY LARGE force to change a object that moves as fast as light..
light has momentum very large momentum and to change momentum you need to use force. Momentum can be changed by changing the magnitude .. of something... like pressing on the gas peddle changes your speed.
that is magnitude..
or by changing the direction of something like when you go around a corner at high speed the car wants to flip over because it wants to go straight doesnt want to change direction.
That is like light its going around a bend at high speed and gets forced to change direction a little.
