Selecting the Right Brand of Floor Marking Tape
It is hard to dispute the widespread renown and usage of floor marking tape in industrial facilities, like factories and warehouses, for promoting organization and safety. The installation of boundaries to create and divide the various sections of the modern industrial workplace is a task for which floor marking tape is optimally suited. Thus, managers of these locations have continuously turned to it for their identification and layout requirements. Problems arise, however, when people ignore the obvious differences in quality and grade between different brands and types of floor marking tape, and more often than not end up purchasing a product that works quite poorly. Perhaps unaware of or refusing to acknowledge the levels of mechanical and human traffic that they contend with on a daily basis, these managers do little more than walk into a store, purchase any brand of cheap floor tape, and get to work laying down the lines of their buildings. One would be wise not to treat this purchase so recklessly, and instead conduct some research on which tape would be most suitable for one's purposes.
Ordinary vinyl tape is the most inexpensive type, and it shows, since this level of floor marking tape will not be able to withstand more than the lightest wear and tear from the facility's everyday activities. If you were to cut off a strip and pull on it at both ends, it would most likely give way after stretching out, since it lacks any form of reinforcement to hold the material together. There are objects that get dragged over these lines that are far heavier and severe than the force of human hands pulling, and they make short work of the cheap vinyl tape. After just a single pass with a forklift carrying a container, vinyl tapes get ripped and then dragged to the side, where nothing is left of them but a crumpled, dirty piece of tape. Lastly, vinyl tape surfaces are textured and prone to the collection of dirt and debris on the tape, which makes it unsightly and reduces its effect.
Consequently, if you would like to use floor tape that really stays together and can endure moderate to heavy traffic, consider a purchase of Last Mark grade tape. Last Mark is extremely resistant to damage, being held together by a strong intertwining network of polyester fibers that run along the length of the tape. A fully loaded forklift can run over a single strip of Last Mark tape five or ten times in succession, and the tape will not budge an inch. Last Mark's adhesive portion is also reinforced by intertwining strands that run along the sticky portion, which ensures that when you have to remove the floor tape, you can peel it off without having it leave behind gummy residue for you to scrape off.
There is also Superior Mark tape, which has the qualities of Last Mark, but adds a few extra features. It is actually thinner than conventional vinyl tapes, but it is tougher. Also, it comes with bevelled edges all along the strip, making it simpler for heavy objects to roll over it harmlessly. This is perhaps the best overall grade of floor tape that you can get, but if it performs as well for you as it has for others, then it will be money you have spent wisely.
