Does a golf ball have MOI?
A golf ball does have a moment of inertia, while it is moving. Golf balls always have some rotation after being hit, usually between 2500 and 3500 revolutions per minute. Put simply, moment of inertia is an object's resistance to changes in its rotation.
Moment of Inertia = the sum of the products of the mass and the square of the perpendicular distance to the axis of rotation of each particle in a body rotating about an axis.
In other words MoI = m1 x d1 squared + m2 x d2 squared..... for all particles in the mass.

PS: Moment of inertia applies to objects not currently in rotation as well, since the value is a resistance to change. A change from 0 rotation to 1 rpm is a change in rotation. Golf clubs are designed to minimize MoI to minimize twisting through impact.
