Tips Before Going to a Long Drive
It would be great to have time for a trips and long drives, right? You will be able to relax and take your mind off from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life. When travelling, you want to make sure that everything will go perfectly as planned. If in case you will be embarking on a long drive, here are some tips for a hassle free journey to your destination.
For long drives, it is always best to check all the details of your car before proceeding with your journey.
Check first the portion of your car that is under the hood. This includes the engine oil. Most car problems are mainly caused by lack of engine oil. Before you travel, park your car on a flat surface and then check how much are there. If early on you realized that you need to have your car's oil changed, make sure that you will do this at least a day or two before your scheduled trip. This is to ensure that everything will go well on your travel date.
You might also want to check on the battery and the coolant of your car. If the coolant in your car's engine is not functioning well, it may cause some serious damage to your car. When it comes to battery, it usually lasts for 2 to 5 years only, depending on how well you maintain it. So if you are having your long trip and you know your battery is already on its fourth to fifth year already, it is best to travel with a new spare battery or even change it prior to your trip.
You should also check the lower part of your car which includes the tires. Check on your car's tire and ensure that it has sufficient air pressure before you leave your home. Most importantly, make sure that the spare tire is also in good condition. If in case you pause for breaks during your travel, constantly check your tires too.
Finally, make sure that the horn, wipers, signal lights and headlights are working just fine. Have the basic car emergency kit and tools in your car's trunk so you will be prepared for anything.
These tips will not just ensure that your trip will be hassle free, you will also be able to arrive in your destination safely.
